Note di degustazione
Subtly smoky, struck-flint notes mingle with scents of iris, honeysuckle and peony. Those elements persist on a polished palate, where they encounter white peach and rhubarb tinged with anisette, tobacco and deep, somehow ore-like mineral notes. Despite analytic dryness, this evinces what I can only call a sense of extract sweetness, almost a honeyed gloss, that helps sustain a palate-saturating, resonant finish, perfectly complementing the wine’s billowing inner-mouth floral perfume and balancing its piquantly cyanic glow.

Lovely, clear and intense on the elegant nose where mineral-scented aromas of legumes and white-fleshed pip-fruits make the 2013 Gruner Veltliner Smaragd Weissenkirchner Achleithen a classic Grooner from the Wachau. Full-bodied, very rich and elegant on the palate, this enormously dense, glycerin and slightly sweet (due to the high alcohol but even more due to the rich extract) Achleithen Grüner reveals a salty and grippy finish. However, the wine needs some years to unfold its drinkability.
