Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2020-2027, David Schildknecht, Vinous, Jul 2020

Gooseberry and crab apple on the nose turn tart, prickly and piquantly seed-tinged when they reemerge on a bracing, firm palate. This is not one of the many easygoing, generous, slightly soft 2018s! The finish is cheek-tugging, mouthwateringly salt-tinged and highly invigorating. (The source vineyards for this large cuvée are Saarburger Rausch, Wiltinger Braunfels and Wiltinger Rosenberg.)

Punteggio 87/100 · Da bere 2020-2030, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Aug 2019

Vinified in stainless steel, the 2018 Riesling Scharzhof (AP #1) is clear, ripe and quite intense on the nose that displays a delicate flinty bouquet. On the palate, this is an intensely fruity and quite rich Riesling that tastes nearly dry. Bottled in late February with 28 grams per liter of residual sugar and 10.5% alcohol, the 2018 is not as crystalline and fine as I remember older vintages. It's pretty charming already. Tasted in June 2019.
