The oak is present on the nose and palate but it’s well integrated, and the palate has enough focus and drive to balance it. Full-bodied, but not overly fat or massive, this has a good sense of salinity that helps to keep things fresh. Notably good acidity for a Condrieu and a long finish make for a very impressive and satisfying wine. Aged in 600-litre barrels for eight months. Biodynamic.
The 2020 Condrieu Coteau De Chery is another rich, powerful Condrieu that somehow remains lively and fresh, I suspect due to its sense of salinity and minerality. Tart peach, tangerine, spice, flowers, and honeyed mineral notes define the nose, and this full-bodied, rich, concentrated effort has plenty of freshness and a great finish.
