Note di degustazione
Río Negro is dry and the old vines deliver low yields, so the vintages are quite stable. The 2019 Old Vines from Patagonia Merlot shows the ripeness and health from the year, keeping personality and freshness and a good alcohol level (14.5%), but still balanced, varietal, herbal and peppery. This is a very good zone for Merlot, and the wines need time in bottle. This has strong varietal character and is nicely textured, serious and balsamic, with a tasty, dry finish. 3,000 bottles were filled in October 2020.

The 2019 Merlot Old Vines from Patagonia hails from Allen, Río Negro and was aged in foudres for a year. Ruby red in the glass. The pure, expressive nose offers notes of blackcurrant, black pepper, paprika and balsamic aromas of bay leaf over an elegant bed of wood. It’s taut, expansive and characterful in the mouth with refined, reactive tannins that add to the intensity and sculpt the long-lasting, balsamic palate.
