Bright straw-gold. Potent, mineral-accented orchard and pit fruit and floral qualities on the deeply perfumed nose. Silky and deeply concentrated, offering palate-staining white peach, pear nectar and orange zest flavors that display excellent clarity and back-end energy. The long, focused finish shows sharp focus and repeating pit fruit character. Raised in a 50/50 combination of oak foudres and barriques and bottled after 16 months on its lees.

I love the 2017 Condrieu Lieu-Dit Vernon, a full-bore, powerful, classic Condrieu loaded with mineral-laced notes of tangerine, spiced citrus, quince, and acacia flower-like aromas and flavors. It's ripe and has a concentrated, rich mid-palate, medium to full body, and a great finish. This comes from arguably the best terroir in Condrieu and I suspect will drink nicely for a solid 7-8 years.
Cask sample. Tasted blind. Juggles oak and fruit on the nose and palate, with the spiciness being a little more obvious than is strictly ideal – although there is plenty of stone-fruit ripeness too, and the quality of the flavours is excellent. Just a slightly bitter twang to finish. (RH)
