Straw yellow and deeper in colour than the other vintages. Completely different focus on the nose with browning apple and wax and mandarin. This needs decanting. Very lively attack, but doesn’t hold up its freshness entirely. Crisp finish, though. (WS)

It is a richer, more full-bodied style of Verdicchio defined by a honeyed, lush quality to its ripe fruit. The 2005 reveals excellent persistence on the palate, if not quite the clarity and vibrancy of the finest vintages.
