Note di degustazione
Vines aged 50–115 years and certified organic. Four plots spread over 3 ha, one of which is very close to Clos St-Jacques. According to Loïc Dugat, the biggest challenge with very old vines is achieving both concentration and freshness. 75% whole bunch, 20% new oak. Cask sample. Mid crimson, stony fresh dark-red and dark fruit. Immense fruit purity, so much freshness and finesse. A little more stemmy than the Coeur de Roy, peppery, too. Tight, fresh, super-fine tannins. An elegant beauty. Serious, fine-boned and a little closed but with great potential. Cool grip on the finish adds to the freshness. (JH)

Derived from very old vines in Epointures, Combe du Dessus, Jouise and Les Marchais that produce tiny shot berries, even in a vintage such as this, Dugat-Py's 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Coeur du Roy unwinds in the glass with aromas of cassis and cherries mingled with notions of peonies and spices. Medium to full-bodied, lively and vibrant, with a fleshy core of fruit and suave tannins, it will offer an unusually broad drinking window by the standards of this concentrated, structured bottling.
