The 2022 Cote Rotie Carmina from Villa, crafted entirely from Syrah sourced primarily from the northern part of the appellation, reveals a dense, complex bouquet of dark berries, violets, spices, pepper and flowers. Medium to full-bodied, harmonious and precise, it’s framed by fine-grained, velvety tannins, with a layered, delicate mid-palate that transitions into a refined licorice, gently mineral finish. With 55% whole bunches, this stunning, focused Côte Rôtie was matured for 15 months in large barrels, followed by an additional eight months blended in foudres. It will evolve gracefully over the next two decades.
