Note di degustazione
Gamey and meaty notes intermixed with violets, potpourri, flowers, rose petals, and red and black fruits all emerge from the 2022 Côte Rôtie Madinière, with hints of licorice developing with time in the glass. Medium to full-bodied and focused on the palate, it shows an elegant, pretty style, with juicy acidity and a vibrant, lively finish. I think it's outstanding and would gladly drink bottles over the coming 15 years or so. Drink 2027-2040.

Crafted from vines planted in schist soils in the Cote Brune sector, the 2022 Cote Rotie Madiniere was fermented with 30% whole bunches and matured for 18 months in barrels. Evoking a ripe bouquet of spices, baked dark berries and chocolate, it's medium to full-bodied, dense and broad, with an oaky, toasty mid-palate framed by an assertive tannic frame. Muscular and oaky, it's well crafted but too oaky for my taste.
The savory 2022 Côte-Rôtie La Madinière checks in at a modest 12.5% alcohol. Smoky licorice, cured meat, ripe black plum and a touch of cedar are all dialed up in the glass. Round and charming, the 2022 shows elevated fruit ripeness that suggests the fruit was picked a little late. That said, there’s plenty of charm and concentration to drink the 2022 La Madinière in its youth, yet I’d wish for a little more overall freshness.
