The Weinbach 2006 Riesling Schlossberg displays piquant walnut, iodine, herbal, and fusil accents to its lime and grapefruit matrix, offering juicy freshness all the way through to its admittedly relatively bitter finish. I would plan on serving this over the next 12-18 months, and there are certainly contexts in which it would perform admirably at table. This year, Domaine Weinbach will receive its official certification as organic and biodynamic growers. The Fallers did well in the difficult 2006 vintage - especially with those Gewurztraminer harvested before botrytis gained the upper hand - and with good reason expressed elation over the vibrancy and refinement that characterizes most of 2007s. (from vines at the top of the hill) Aromas of spices, earth, hay and quinine, plus a sweet whiff of marzipan. Fairly sweet and glyceral, with good underlying minerality and more herbs and mint than primary fruit showing today. Conveys an impression of riper grapes than the Cuvee Theo but lower acidity.
