Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2027-2050, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Feb 2025

From 60-year-old Burgundian massal selections and Chambertin vines with small berries on Zellenberg's limestone soils and aged in old Burgundian barrels and a 600-liter barrel, the 2022 Pinot Noir Chapelle 1441 opens with a deep, pure, fresh, intense and warm yet also coolish and spicy bouquet of ripe cherries and berries intermingled with iodine notes. Very elegant and fresh on the palate, this is a silky-textured, refreshing, savory and saline-finishing Pinot Noir with good intensity, mineral grip and tension. The tannins are neither sweet nor smooth but stimulating fresh and palate-cleansing. Pierre Trapet admits he wishes he would have picked the grapes a week later, but at the time, he listened to his father, Louis, who recommended picking the Pinots earlier. Pierre finds the tannins a bit rough today. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in April 2024.

Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2024-2034, Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous

The 2022 Chapelle 1441 is from Zellenberg, Béblenheim and Riquewihr. Picked across five parcels, this was aged in piece and small foudre of 600 liters. Iron oxide and smokiness cling to tart red fruit on the nose, along with some pepper. The palate has a beautifully chiffon-like veil of tannin, but the fruit is expressive and ripe, recalling red, ripe but fresh cherry, with real crunch. This is beautifully bold in its own tender fashion, with a subtle creaminess of oak. Bright tension makes the mouth water and shows great judgment of harvest point, delivering the perfect crunch and pure fruit. (Bone-dry)
