2020 Arbois Pupillin Chardonnay

The 2020 Arbois Pupillin Chardonnay (sealed with white wax) that I had tasted in the summer of 2023 after it had recently finished fermenting was tasted again, still in barrel. It has notes of spice and smoke and feels a little medicinal, but is mostly shy and closed and feels a little stopped in time. The cellar where the 2018, 2019 and 2020 that I tasted together are aging is very cold, so the wines are cold and developing at a slow pace. Once it warmed up and opened up a bit, it was more obvious that the wine is quite ripe and higher in alcohol, a little more exotic and with a round mouthfeel. It's a little difficult to read today.
