2021 Bernkasteler Doctor Auslese WK (3 Star)

Ripe and overripe, almost raisined fruit aromas intermingled with lemon chutney and pink grapefruit open on the nose of the 2021 Riesling Bernkasteler Doctor (White Capsule) that also displays a lovely slate aroma. Dense, round and elegant yet still slightly bitter on the saline and stimulating crystalline and savory finish, this is a powerful but elegant and linear Doctor with an at-first salivating but then a bit drying finish, mostly due to the added sulfur for bottling. To be auctioned in September this year. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in May 2023.
