Note di degustazione
The 2015 Nahe "Cuvée Victor" is a coolish, precise and mineral blend of Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc fermented in new 1,200-liter oak barrels. Whereas in former times the best barrels were the bigger and fatter ones, today Caroline is choosing the most mineral and stimulating ones. The 2015 is creamy, rich and elegant but vital and fine, revealing good stimulating length.

This year’s edition of this long-standing barrique -raised blend of Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris favors the former. It offers discreet but lovely aromas of toasted grain, almond, and lemon zest. The effect of wood and lees here seems to have cancelled out rather than enhanced the natural creaminess exhibited by this year’s Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris Reserve bottlings (or by the 2014 Viktor). The palate impression is certainly thick and plush as well as markedly lactic, although alcohol is slightly lower than in its two aforementioned siblings – a result, explains Diel, of tapping cooler, slower-ripening parcels. The finish is admirably juicy – predictably suggesting peach, apple and lemon – though lacks the clarity or mineral complexity of the best Diel efforts with Pinots.
