Knoll's 2021 Ried Loibenberg Loibner Grüner Veltliner Smaragd shows a clear, dense, fleshy and aromatic nose with concentrated fruit. Creamy, juicy, salty and savory on the palate, this is a rich and also tense Loibenberg Veltliner with fine tannins and long-lasting fruit. Tasted at Schloss Dürnstein, Wachau, in September 2022.

Unterloiben. Ripe sunshine aromas on a bitter, citrusy soul. Grass, drying hay. Complex and thrilling with a supple, waxy lemon-oil concentration and delicate phenolics. Structured, spicy and lithe. Deceptively light and tremendously deep while still gauzy enough to let the sunshine in. Closed now but with a beautiful future to come. (PS)
