Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2024-2034, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Aug 2024

The way the 2019 L'Etoile Savagnin, aged four and a half years under a veil of flor yeasts in 228-liter barrels, took and expresses the flor is very different from the way the flor is expressed in the Chardonnay Cuvée Spéciale. This is more floral and spicier, with notes of celery. The palate is round and velvety, with good ripeness, reflecting a warm and powerful year but with the freshness and acidity from the grape variety. It comes from two plots: Les Baudes Haut, the higher part, was planted in 1988, and Les Bas, the lower part, was planted in 1990 on gray marls and limestone with fossil soils. 1,500 bottles were filled in April 2024.

Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2024-2039, Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous, Jul 2024

Barrique aged for 54 months sous voile , the 2019 Savagnin L'Étoile is flat-out stunning. White mushrooms, dried flowers, lemon peel, hay and walnuts come alive. On the palate, the 2019 is a full-throttle Savagnin with marked flavor concentration and notable inner energy. Despite all that power, laser-like varietal acidity cuts through the liquid like a scalpel. Concluding with a persistent and nutty finale, the bold 2019 walks off the stage with a bang.
