Note di degustazione
The 2016 Riesling Wehlener Klosterberg Spätlese (Green Capsule) is clear, subtle and fine on the nose, indicating a lovely concentrated but precise and spicy bouquet. Dense, lush and mineral, this is a very digestible and food-friendly Spätlese with remarkable freshness, elegance and mineral piquancy. The finish is light but very stimulating and salty. 9.5% alcohol. Tasted March 2018.

Ripe apple and pear are garlanded in lily-of-the-valley on a seductively scented nose and a buoyant, subtly creamy palate. That combination wafts onto a soothingly sustained, vanilla- and stone-kissed palate. The balance between creaminess on the one hand and animation and clarity on the other is striking. And the subtle but supportive sense of sweetness is perfectly judged. Molitor continues to demonstrate that his home site, located in a side valley on the Left Bank, can surprisingly share much of the allure familiar from wines grown in Wehlen’s iconic Sonnenuhr Einzellage overlooking the Mosel two miles upstream on the opposite shore.
