Quince preserves and overripe Persian melon inform an effusive nose and a richly fruited, creamy yet juicy and buoyant palate. Heady scents of lily translate into liquid perfume; candied ginger offers welcome counterpoint; and hints of crème caramel are, like the wine’s jellied fruit aspects, reinforced by prominent but in no way excessive sweetness. The lusciously lingering finish supplies a surprising amount of sheer juiciness to accompany its confitured and liquidly floral richness.

The 2018 Goldloch Riesling Auslese is clear and very precise on the refined and concentrated, flinty-piquant and crunchy nose. Lush and round on the palate, this is a firmly structured and slightly tannic Auslese with a fine and linear course on the palate. Wonderfully piquant and slightly creamy. Tasted in July 2019.
The slightest touch of overripe peaches comes through on the nose, but the main features are bright dried citrus and pear tart. Medium dry and very sleek with subtle phenolics and agile acidity. Sleek and elegant, this is a very endearing Auslese to drink now.
