Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2023-2038, Anthony Mueller, Wine Advocate, Dec 2023

Bursting with a fresh, clean and spicy nose, the 2022 Plat'bos Chenin Blanc offers notions of dusty citrus blossoms, white peach and Meyer lemon zest with a subtle hint of nuttiness. Medium-bodied, mineral driven and zesty on the palate, this is youthful and expressive with a kiss of phenolic bitterness. It will remain food friendly for years to come. Nicely done, I want more!

Full bottle 1,335 g. Fifth vintage of wine from this vineyard right next to the Skaliekop vineyard on decomposed granite. Planted in 1981 on the Paardebosch farm, this vineyard contributes to both their main Chenin Blanc blend as well as to Aristargos and will continue to do so. They have been farming this vineyard since winter 2013 and it has been 'a pillar in our granite approach towards our white wines'. Grapes were harvested in the first part of February, being one of the earliest Chenin Blanc vineyards they work with, planted on a northern slope. Harvesting took place over two picking dates and both lots were fermented and aged separately. Plat’bos is part of the Old Vine Project. 1,772 bottles. Deep straw and fine, tight, youthful Chenin with marked acidity. This should be set for a long life. Still very introvert. Straight into the cellar, please. (JR)

The fifth vintage of Plat’bos, which is a north-facing vineyard planted in 1981, next to the Skaliekop vineyard. Decomposed granite – very poor soils. They've been farming Plat'bos since winter 2013. It's their earliest-ripening vineyard, picked over two tries early February with each lot fermented and aged separately. TA 6.2 g/l, RS 1.9 g/l, pH 3.29. 1,772 bottles made. Savoury, gritty, fiercely mineral and fiercely magnificent – so crystalline that it's like crunching rocks. Raw spices. An explosion of pepper. There is an arresting geometrical symmetry and power to this wine which tastes way too young to fully appreciate right now. But this will age and age … (TC)
