Punteggio 94/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2013

Good full, deep red-ruby. Wonderfully expressive nose melds superripe black cherry, leather, game and a faintly medicinal quality. Rich, dense, tactile and sweet, with outstanding concentration to the creamy middle palate. Saline minerality provides lift. Finishes with explosive sweetness, firm structure and terrific persistence. Rather massive for 2010 and a great Boudots.

Dense and fine and refined tannins. Dry finish but not drying out. (JR)

Good bright, dark red. Black cherry, currant, licorice, mocha and chocolate on the slightly reduced nose, complicated by hints of earth. Sweet, lush and energetic, with good definition to the redcurrant and red cherry fruit. Less sexy today than the Perrieres but opulent for the year. Finishes with substantial broad, ripe tannins and excellent sneaky persistence.

The 2010 Nuits St. Georges Les Boudots emerges from the glass with layers of silky dark red fruit, flowers, spices and crushed rocks. This is a sensual, generous style of Nuits that is very pleasing, even today. I imagine it will drink well with minimum cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025. Jean-Nicolas Meo was away on the day of my visit, so I tasted with assistant winemaker Peer Reiss. The harvest started on September 22 and took about ten days to complete. Overall, I am a big fan of the 2010s here. Although I did not get a chance to taste the 2009s from bottle, my notes suggest 2010 will turn out to be the more interesting vintage.
