Made in a commercial, mainstream style, this dark ruby-colored port offers sweet cassis and blackberry aromas as well as flavors, medium body, but little grip or intensity in the finish. Saturated bright, deep ruby. Knockout nose combines superripe kirsch, blackberry, blueberry, black raspberry, violet and spices; suggestion of linzer tart. Boasts a sweetness verging on confectionery but leavened by lovely inner-mouth floral complexity, sound acidity and firm underlying backbone. Not hugely dense but shows wonderful penetrating fruit, a dark chocolate aspect, and a sappy, long, broad aftertaste. Tannins are dusty and ripe.
