The 2019 Schloss Johannisberger Riesling Kabinett Rotlack is pretty intense yet coolish on the loud nose, which is less refined than previous vintages. Round and sweet on the palate, this is a full-bodied, elegant, refined and mineral Riesling with good grip and stimulating salinity on the tensioned and refreshing finish. Tasted in June 2020.

A subtle spicy aroma adds interest to the fragrance of ripe yellow fruit. Generously juicy on the palate with notes of peach, apricot and orange, a delightful sprinkling of ginger adds a tantalising tingle to the taste. The residual sugar is perfectly pitched, supporting rather than dominating the flavour. (MS)
