Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2020-2027, Josh Raynolds, Mar 2016

(raised in 20% new oak for 18 months): Brilliant ruby. Vibrant red and dark berry aromas are complicated by hints of peppery spices, potpourri and black pepper, and a smoky mineral nuance develops with aeration. Lively, focused and appealingly sweet, offering intense black raspberry, cherry compote and floral pastille flavors that become spicier with air. Silky tannins give shape to the penetrating finish, which clings with excellent tenacity and repeating floral character.

Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2015-2025, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Dec 2015

Tasted out of bottle, the 2013 Syrah l'Ame Soeur is outstanding. From the schist soils located just north of the town of Vienne and a south-facing, warmer site, it has lots of cassis and black cherry-styled fruit as well as notes of chocolate, bouquet garni and smoked earth. This medium-bodied, elegant yet authoritative Syrah has tons to like and will drink well for a decade.

(made with 20% whole clusters): Deep ruby. Expansive, highly perfumed aromas of black and blue fruits, star anise and woodsmoke, with a minerally element adding urgency. Spicy and seamless on the palate, offering vibrant boysenberry and bitter cherry flavors that are given bite by a suggestion of cracked pepper. A sexy floral note comes up on the gently tannic finish, which hangs on with excellent focus and mineral-driven persistence.
