The estate Shiraz Viognier was a suitable foray into the realm of this lovely 2019 Shiraz Viognier Reserve. The chocolate flow and exotic spice so amply introduced by the estate wine is taken to all new heights here—it is polished without being featureless and is plump with definition to the tannins. A saturating core of fruit crouches on the middle palate and shows an effortless splay of flavor through the finish. This is very smart, with a savory edge to the raspberry fruit and such an elegant finish.

Youthful purple. Ripe dark fruit, floral and spice aromas show fine detail and a hint of smokiness. Juicy and broad on the palate, offering sweet blueberry, cherry cola, licorice and vanilla flavors that steadily firm up through the back half. Smoothly plays richness off energy and finishes with excellent, spicy tenacity.
