Now sourced exclusively from the Constellation-owned section of To Kalon (rather than the Beckstoffer plot), this is an impressive wine. The nose is sweet and rich, offering incense, vanilla, baking spice and dried leather alongside plush, dark plum fruit. The palate is dense and mouth-filling, with a firm, velvet, mouth-coating tannin structure that frames the intense fruit. Cocoa and cloves complement the blueberry compote richness. A generous, voluptuous Cabernet Sauvignon that needs time. Aged in 100% new oak.

I loved the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon To Kalon Vineyard. It's a round, layered, supple, superb expression of the vineyard that has full-bodied richness, a round, layered, seamless mouthfeel, no hard edges, and sweet tannins. It's not going to make old bones, but given its balance and suppleness, I wouldn't be surprised to see this evolve gracefully either. Drink bottles over the coming 12-15 years.
