Punteggio 98/100 · Da bere 2025-2050, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Aug 2024

At the end of the tasting, we had only tasted one flor wine, a bottled 2014 Vin Jaune that I didn't realize was not bottled when I tasted it last year. But these wines are super stable after almost 10 years aging under a veil of flor yeasts. 2014 was a classical year (the last one?), cooler and fresher, and the wine is all about finesse and freshness, with smoky undertones, hints of peat and iodine, green walnuts, a rancid twist, morel mushrooms and the textbook savory notes of chicken broth, curry and celery. It feels young but already quite complex, with a salty, long finish. It should develop even more complexity with time in bottle. It was bottled in December 2023.

Intense notes of popcorn and breadcrumbs set the stage for the potent 2014 Côtes du Jura Vin Jaune. Hints of dried fruit are present but remain in the background, allowing a remarkably delicate yet astonishingly intense expression to shine through. On the palate, the full-bodied 2014 expands in every direction to reveal layer upon layer of nuanced complexity—hay, saffron and even a trace of iodine. Highly expressive and deeply seductive, this is an outstanding Vin Jaune that comes highly recommended.
