Punteggio 17/20 · Da bere 2021-2030, Jancis Robinson MW, Jun 2019

Shaded crimson. Luscious fruit. Very distinctive (and a Wine of the Week earlier this year ). Exotically concentrated. Sui generis rather than typically beaujolais. Intense. Tastes as though whole bunches of grapes have been squeezed into the glass. Well done! GV (JR)

Vivid ruby. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes fresh red berries, cherry liqueur, smoky minerals and candied flowers. Sappy, sharply focused raspberry, bitter cherry and lavender flavors show very good depth and pick up a hint of allspice with air. Fine-grained tannins give shape to an impressively long, mineral-accented finish that shows excellent clarity and floral lift.

The 2015 Morgon Corcelette has a gorgeous bouquet: very pure and enticing with vibrant red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit laced with blueberry. The palate is very well balanced with supple tannin, well judged acidity and the wood (a mixture of demi-muids, foudres and barrels) is seamlessly integrated. This is certainly worth a look for a well-crafted, modern-styled Beaujolais. Chapeau Mee Godard for creating one of the best Corcelettes of the vintage.

60-year-old vines. Lieux-dits Bellevue and Montillet. Saprolite soils. Partially destemmed. Fermentation for 15 to 18 days. Indigenous yeasts. Aged in barrels, demi-muids and foudres. Mid to deep crimson. More open than the Grand Cras, more fragrant but still the darker fruit dominates the nose, though it is sweet and inviting. Super-fine tannins but enough of them to be quite chewy now. Scented and fresh on the palate with a mineral-dry complexity on the finish. Very long. (JH)
