Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2022-2032, Jeb Dunnuck, Dec 2022

Moving to the 2019s, the 2019 Côtes Du Rhône offers just about everything you could want from Côtes Du Rhône and is medium-bodied and textured, with complex notes of ripe darker cherries, violets, and pepper, supple tannins, and outstanding length. While I always say you should drink these in the first 4-5 years or so, these actually are capable of evolving for at least a decade.

Dark ruby. Spice-accented cherry and black raspberry aromas are complemented by suggestions of pungent flowers and cola. Fleshy and energetic in the mouth, offering nicely concentrated red and blue fruit flavors that tighten up steadily with air. Shows very good energy and lift on a long, gently tannic finish that leaves behind repeating red fruit and spice notes.

Strongly marked by bold fruit on the nose, the 2019 Cotes du Rhone features scents of blackberries, raspberries and cherries. Medium to full-bodied, it's atypically rich and structured—a fine, balanced summation of the vintage.

Full bottle 1,280 g. 60% Viognier, plus Marsanne and Roussanne. Average vine age 25 years. Heady and richly blossomy on the nose but with quite enough acidity too. A full-bodied white at a good price for those who seek a couple of cuts above bog-standard Viognier. Well made. No point in ageing it though. There is already a little heat on the end – nothing serious but drink now! (JR)
