As we were tasting a number of Vin Jaunes, Stéphane Tissot reached for some bottles that he had opened before, like a 2016 Les Bruyères Vin Jaune that came in at 15.5% alcohol and felt more oxidative and larger. The 2016 Vin Jaune Arbois Les Bruyères is delightful. Classically styled and expressive, it opens with prominent dried chamomile, walnuts, bread dough and a pinch of saffron. Powerful and concentrated, the 2016 hits the palate at full throttle. A long and finely delineated nutty finish confirms a Vin Jaune of outstanding quality.
