2016 Cote Rotie Fongeant

Inky ruby. Highly perfumed dark berry, incense, smoky mineral and olive aromas show excellent clarity and pick up a hint of exotic spices with air. Sweet, palate-staining blackberry, boysenberry and floral pastille flavors expand slowly with air and take on a bitter chocolate note on the back half. Rich but lively as well, showing outstanding clarity and mineral thrust on a persistent finish that features fine-grained tannins and suave, clinging floral and star anise notes.
