The 2019 Rosé is a blend of 54% Chardonnay, 36% Pinot Noir and 10% Pinot Meunier, fermented in stainless steel and matured for over five years on lees. A subtle, fruity richness on the nose is reminiscent of plum with edges of tart apple. This is almost autumnal in aspect, all wrapped in a little waxy smoothness. The palate also has this wax, plum and apple spin, lending as much fruit as richness. The body, however, stays linear and bright, driving forward with freshness and keeping its generosity in a fine, shapely corset. Concentration, poise, saltiness and fine mousse stand this in good stead. The finish is lovely and nutty. Lovely now, certain to evolve. Dosage is 10 grams per liter. Disgorged: September 2025.

Tasted blind in a line-up of 10 English sparkling wines. Full bottle 1,654 g. 54% Chardonnay, 36% Pinot Noir, 10% Pinot Meunier. A small percentage of barrel-aged red wine. Sur lattes for 36 months. TA 9 g/l, dosage 10 g/l. Deep coral pink. It really does smell of fresh, ripe raspberries and strawberries. The lemony acidity is bold and fans out quickly and right to the finish, but the fruit is firm and fresh with a dot of cinnamon spice that flickers in and out. Tiny bubbles, silky texture and a really clean-cut finish. Just a teeny bit short. (TC)
