This is a good wine, but I would expect more depth and substance from Maucaillou, which is generally among the finest estates of the Moulis appellation. Medium plum/ruby-colored, with moderate body, and spicy, attractive red currant and cherry notes intermixed with herbs, vanilla, and spice, it should be drunk over the next 5-8 years.

Medium ruby. Blackberry, black raspberry, licorice, bitter chocolate, violet and charred oak on the nose. Lush, sweet flavors of black cherry, licorice and bitter chocolate; still some acids to be absorbed but this already offers enticing inner-mouth floral character. Tannins coat the teeth on the lingering finish. Shows more sweetness and personality than most recent vintages from this estate.
