Note di degustazione
Sitting at the same altitude as Musigny, this plot is under the combe on a steep, south-facing slope with marl soils and significant diurnal variation. There are four barrels in 2022, and the wine is very special. It is shy on the nose, quietly offering delicate aromatics – hints of smoke, florals and red berries. As the wine hits your palate, however, there’s an instant hit of crunchy redcurrants, and it expands to fill the mouth, lithe with bright fruit. The juicy freshness is complemented by a fine-grained swathe of tannins that build gradually to add grip.

Cask sample. Plenty to chew on here. Lots of wood on the palate, all rather dominant at the moment. The fruit takes a backward position but will emerge after several years’ ageing. Leafy, good texture, nice concentration here. (AWH)
Cask sample. Light to mid cherry red. Much sweeter-smelling than the Nuits-St-Georges Les Cailles – sweet red cherry on the nose. Also sweet-fruited on the palate but moderated by the dry, layered tannins. Elegant and dry on the long finish. (JH)
