Punteggio 96/100 · Da bere 2024-2040, Joaquin Hidalgo, Vinous, Feb 2024

The 2020 Cobos Volturno blends 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Malbec and 2% Cabernet Franc from old vines planted in Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo. A dark purple wine, the reserved nose reveals currant and cassis marmalade notes along with a subtle ash and cedar layer. Hints of pepper and orange peel join in. Dry, supple and velvety on the palate, the fine-grained, plush tannins lead to a muscular and well-fitted mouthfeel, lasting long with a ripe fruit flavor. This balanced and complex yet fairly concentrated Cabernet from Luján de Cuyo bears the signatures of a warm vintage.

Blueberry, black currant and hints of boysenberry. Floral. Rose petal. Full-bodied and very tight with firm and velvety tannins, and a long and focused finish. Shows energy and structure. Holding back. Crunchy at the end. A blend of grapes from Lujan de Cuyo and Uco Valley. 78% cabernet sauvignon, 20% malbec and 2% cabernet franc. Drink or hold.
