Dark ruby. A highly complex, spice-accented bouquet evokes blueberry and cherry preserves, incense and smoky Indian spices, and a bright mineral quality adds lift. Completely stains the palate with sappy, sharply delineated red and blue fruit liqueur flavors complemented by suave floral and allspice notes. Shows outstanding energy and thrust on a remarkably long, floral finish framed by subtle, fine-grained tannins. (JR)

One of the top wines in the vintage, the 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape Arioso (100% Grenache that spent three years in barrel with no racking) offers a beautiful, Burgundian perfume of caramelized cherries, flowers, and framboise, with more herbes de Provence developing with time in the glass. Incredibly pure, seamless and elegant, with medium to full body, it’s a singular, gorgeous expression of Grenache that’s going to evolve nicely for 20+ years.
