The 2020 Nicolas Catena Zapata exhibits the vertical depth synonymous with Cabernet Sauvignon, whilst also capturing a great energy to the fruit. The wine’s texture is soft and juicy and the fruit flavours are dominated by cassis and blackberry. The tannins build on the back of the palate and bring a textural bite and more complexity. It is a wonderfully structural wine that will benefit from a few years in bottle as those tannins meld with the fruit.

Red chili pepper and clove spices to the currants and savory tobacco leaf. A tight and juicy delivery on the palate with a full body and nicely clutched tannins. Lovely grip. 92% cabernet sauvignon and 8% cabernet franc. Drink or hold.
The 2020 Catena Alta Cabernet Sauvignon contains 8% Cabernet Franc that seems to have given it an extra touch of freshness in this warm year. It's varietal, peppery and herbal but with ripeness and 13.7% alcohol. It's medium-bodied with abundant herbal flavors and very fine tannins. 34,800 bottles produced. It was bottled in October 2021.
