Showing well, the 2007 Gigondas La Font De Tonin sports a ruby/plum color to go with rich, powerful notes of spiced red and black fruits, black licorice, garrigue, and Asian spices. It's fully mature and incredibly aromatic, bringing lots of fruit and richness on the palate, and is a meaty, spicy, opulent Gigondas with sweet tannins and a great finish. Drink it any time over the coming 7-8 years. It's a rich powerhouse of a wine that's from the oldest vines of the estate and is mostly Grenache with 10-15% Mourvedre, raised in tank and smaller barrels.

Inky ruby. An expansive, floral bouquet displays scents of blackcurrant, boysenberry, pipe tobacco and potpourri, with subtle mineral and spice notes adding complexity. Rich, fleshy dark berry compote flavors stain the palate and take a turn to brighter red fruits with air. A sexy framboise quality lingers endlessly behind the broad, velvety finish. Opaque purple. Potent dark berry, cherry and plum aromas are underscored by smoky mineral and pungent floral qualities. Sappy, palate-staining dark berry flavors pack serious punch and gain sweetness with air. The finish refuses to let up, with the floral element strongly echoing. This is at 16.7% alcohol right now and Faravel says that "it still has some sugar to eat." Looks to be a big, serious bruiser of a wine.
