Bricky crimson with wide brick rim. So much more developed than the 2015 Clos de Rochegrès just tasted. Sweet, spicy with notes of dried fruits starting to show. The fruit is starting to fade here and the tannins are quite bony. Not showing well. (JH)

The 2013 Moulin-à-Vent Clos du Grand Carquelin has a fragrant bouquet with wild strawberry and Morello cherry scents that are detailed and offer more intensity than the "La Rochelle". The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin and fine acidity, more tension and race here compared to the aforementioned Moulin-à-Vent with a pleasing, lightly spiced finish. This is very fine.
Vivid ruby. A heady, complex bouquet evokes red fruit preserves, incense and fresh flowers, with notes of blood orange and smoky minerals adding complexity. Stains the palate with juicy raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that are given spine by zesty acidity and sharpened by a minerally element. Clings with excellent tenacity on the long, incisive finish, which is shaped by silky, slow-building tannins.
