Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2016-2028, David Schildknecht, Vinous, May 2016

Musky and faintly smoky fusil notes share the nose with intimations of peppery cress, bright Meyer lemon and white peach that go on to dominate the satiny mid-palate with cheek-tugging intensity. Cress-like nips along with crystalline and alkaline mineral impingements serve for vibratory invigoration while salinity serves for mouthwatering saliva-inducement in a terrifically persistent finish. There is an uncanny resemblance here to top-notch Chablis (though certainly having nothing to do with high active lime in the soil, because the Berg Rottland is dominated by slate and quartzite).

Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2018-2028, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Dec 2015

Deep and mineral with ripe, slightly spicy aromas on the well focused nose, the 2014 Rudesheimer Berg Rottland Riesling is still closed on the palate; but it is still pure, racy and full of vibrancy with a lingering salinity. A mouthful of wine, very compact and well structured, this excellent Riesling should age for at least another 4-5 years. The botrytis of this cru (which is located close to the Rhine river) is completely sorted out and partly added to the Terra Montosa.
