2000 De Toren Fusion V

Second vintage. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot. Aged in new and used French and US oak. Smudgy garnet but still quite young looking. A little dusty, complex aromas of undergrowth and leafy dark fruit and some mintiness. Still has plenty of leafy dark fruit. Fine but sandy tannins, surprisingly fresh finish given the alcohol though there is some heat on the finish, which pulls it down a bit. (JH)
