Note di degustazione
Looking at the 2020s here, these were both just bottled before this tasting. The 2020 Gigondas Terrasse Du Diable (85% Grenache and the rest Syrah) is the most mineral-laced of the duo and has impressive darker cherry and blackberry fruits as well as ample peppery garrigue nuances. Coming from higher elevation limestone soils, fermented with 35% stems, and aged in tank, this medium to full-bodied, elegant, vibrant 2020 is perfect for drinking any time over the coming 10-12 years.

Dark garnet color. Smoke- and spiced-tinged dark fruit, floral and garrigue aromas pick up a peppery element with air. Offers deep blackberry, kirsch, candied lavender, baking spice flavors and a touch of licorice. Finishes impressively long and spicy, with chewy tannins coming in late. This is still quite youthful and deserves some patience, or at the very least, decanting.
The 2020 Gigondas Terrasse Du Diable comes from slightly higher elevation parcels and limestone soils. It has beautiful red and blue fruits as well as a medium to full-bodied, quite structured, tannic, yet nicely concentrated style. It’s clearly an outstanding wine.
