Note di degustazione
The barrel-fermented 2020 Cotes de Provence Rose Garrus is another beautiful effort. A wine that has helped redefine Provence rosé, it's toasty and vanilla-laden, yet also balanced and successful, with notes of tangerine, peach, raspberry and lime in abundance. Medium to full-bodied, ripe and generous in feel, it finishes long, with echoes of allspice and citrus.

Full, fat bottle 1,724 g – ridiculously and surely unnecessarily heavy? Made from a single vineyard of near-centenarian Grenache vines, and from Rolle (Vermentino). Fermented and aged in new, large French oak barrels for 11 months. Bottled July 2021. Pale apricot colour – much yellower than that of Les Clans and Ch d'Esclans. Fairly light nose. But beguiling fruit on the palate that actually shares the light, gentle furriness of an apricot until the finish is fairly hot. There is a hint of Condrieu about this wine. It's presumably designed for the table. It's surely too big and muscular to sip casually – even on an oligarch's yacht. (JR)
