Note di degustazione
The 2000 Riesling Steiner Hund has an expressive pear, apple, and herb-laden nose. Stones, pears, and minerals can be found in its light to medium-bodied personality. This offering is more focused yet less rich than the Smaragd Von Stein. Drink it over the next 8-10 years. Ripe red peach, sweet brown spice and an ethereal hint of botrytisin in the nose. Honey, dried apple and peach in the mouth, with a suggestion of sweetness. A slightly unruly sweet-sour note and touch of roughness enter into the finish, but that may diminish with time. One thing the Saahs family has demonstrated definitively is that their wines can grow in stature with bottle age. There was very little of this wine: most of the Steiner Hund riesling, which was their last wine harvested, is an Auslese that was not yet bottled in June. The estate prefers to show it next year. 1 star.
