Medium red. High-pitched aromas of blueberry, cherry, spices and minerals. Broad, supple and dry, showing lovely spicy lift and mid-palate energy. Spreads out horizontally on the persistent finish, which features a fine dusting of tannins. Very sexy wine.

The 2014 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Gruenchers possesses one of the most exotic, richer set of aromatics from Jean-Marie this year -- kirsch and blood orange, a touch of soy in the background, an infectious feistyness. The palate is medium-bodied, fleshy and sweet, generous with layers of macerated red cherries and strawberry with a sorbet-like freshness on the finish. It's the kind of Chambolle you'll want to cuddle.
A bit flatter than Les Fuées. Quite charming and fruity on the nose. Hint of rhubarb. Not the freshest fruit, just a little smudgy and indistinct. (JR)
