Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2026-2048, Neal Martin, Dec 2023

The 2019 Morey-Saint-Denis Vieilles Vignes 1er Cru has the most fruit on the nose, with ample blackberry and boysenberry, cracked black pepper and a touch of sous-bois . The palate is medium-bodied, with sappy black fruit and fine acidity, good structure, gentle but insistent grip and a saline finish. This is rather stylized. There is an abiding sense of harmony to this Morey, and it should give 20 years of drinking pleasure, at least. Bon vin . Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2019 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Vieilles Vignes is shaping up beautifully, mingling aromas of dark berry fruit, orange rind, espresso roast, forest floor and warm spices in an incipiently complex bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it's deep and complete, its serious long-haul structure largely concealed by a lively core of fruit. As usual, this "baby Clos de la Roche" derives from a parcel planted in the 1930s and 1940s that straddles the climats Faconnières and Chenevery

The 2019 Morey-Saint-Denis Vieilles Vignes 1er Cru comes from a single parcel that traverses Chenevery (25%) and Faconnières (75%). This comes from a plot planted with sélection massale . It has a very well defined bouquet with mineral-rich black fruit, wilted red rose petals and a faint of tobacco scent. The palate is very fresh and saline, the tannins finely chiseled with a discrete crescendo towards the finish. This is just a beautiful Morey-Saint-Denis that should not be ignored. Seven and a half barrels this year.
