Note di degustazione
The 2020 Monzingen Riesling trocken Halgans is deep, intense and complex on the nose that shows bright and intense lemon fruit intermingled with flinty stone aromas and notes of blue slate splitters. Pure and tensioned on the palate, this is a full-bodied, very complex and structured dry Riesling from younger vines in the Halenberg. Almost 50% of the grapes come from the steepest part of the cru, and this probably gives the power and intensity on the finish. This is a spectacular wine with a certain generosity but a merciless terroir expression on the finish. Needs time, though. 12.5% alcohol. Tasted at the domain in July 2021.

Full bottle 1,185 g. Pale greenish straw. Floral, almost opulent nose. Not yet settled down; the acidity still seems a bit jagged and aggressive. I'm sure it will get there but it's not there yet. (JR)
This is at once powerful and compact, but sleek and enormously energetic. The palate is packed with wet stone minerality, the finish so long and invigorating. Drink or hold.
