The 2001 Ruchottes-Chambertin Clos des Ruchottes Grand Cru is fully mature on the nose, with ferrous red fruit, quite light, scents of bacon fat and mortadella emerging with time. The palate has a grainy entry, again quite ferrous, although juxtaposed against the superior '02, this lacks a bit of flesh and feels attenuated towards the finish. Drink in the near future.

Moderately saturated medium red. Slightly roasted aromas of redcurrant, flowers and mocha. Fat and sweet in the mouth, with a musky earthy quality complicating the red fruit and game flavors. The deepest of these 2001s to this point, finishing sweeter and more persistent.
