Note di degustazione
A wine that was brought up all in demi-muid and barrique (2010 was the first year to see some aging in foudre), the 2009 Cotes du Ventoux Cuvee Persia is slightly rustic and chunky by this estate's standards, yet still has plenty of charm in its kirsch, ground herbs, licorice and garrigue aromas and flavors. Tannic, medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated and textured on the palate, drink it over the coming 4-5 years.

90% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre. Very dark purple. Rich, round and full of guts. This vintage signalled a new era of finesse for Fondrèche whose winemaker is proud of the fact that the terroir leaves a stronger impression on this wine than the 2009 weather. Still admirably fresh. (JR)
Up there with the best of the region, the brilliant 2009 Domaine de Fondrèche Côtes du Ventoux Persia, a blend 90% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre that’s aged all in new oak, over-delivers in a big way and possesses stunning aromas of crème de cassis, creamy black raspberry, licorice, crushed stone, and chocolate on the nose. Full-bodied and voluptuously textured, with notable purity, impeccable balance, and a classically structured finish, this serious wine has a level of polish and purity that’s not often found. While superb now, it should drink nicely for 5-7 years.
Heady, honeyed nose and then very tense on the palate with just a tad too-obvious oak. (JR)
