Note di degustazione
The 2019 Oak Reserve is a pure Chardonnay made from base wines fermented and aged in a mix of 228- and 500-liter barrels and foudres, all used French oak, ranging from just under to over two years. The wine spent 33 months on lees. Creamy smoothness on the nose marries gentle smokiness with Bourbon vanilla ice cream. The palate is equally creamy, filling the mouth with smooth resonance, fine freshness and brightness—a lovely and fitting combination that is elegant and age-worthy. Dosage is 6.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: April 2025.

Tasted blind. Tight-knit nose. A little looser on the palate and a bit like frothy sherbet. (JR)
Full bottle 1,658 g. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier from Kent vineyards. Disgorged 3 October 2022. Slightly smoky, tight and fine, chalky texture. Very much on the savoury spectrum, but in an interesting, unusual style – smoked almonds, tempura courgettes spritzed with yuzu lemon, crisp-fried potato skins tossed with grapefruit zest and chervil. Crunchy acidity and ultra-fine piercing bubbles. An aperitif-canapé wine, without doubt. If we're thinking classic 'English', then a mini cone of seaside fish & chips, or a pick-em-up-with-a-toothpick Llansteffan Beach dainty pickled cockles. (TC)
