2019 Coteaux du Languedoc La Clape Clos des Truffiers

Another tour de force in world class Syrah, the 2019 Clos Des Truffiers comes from some of the oldest vines in the Languedoc and is 100% Syrah brought up in new barrels. As always, it's a bigger, richer, more powerful wine compared to the Porte du Ciel and boasts a dense purple/plum color as well as a monster bouquet of spiced red and black fruits, new leather, dried herbs, chocolate, and charcuterie. Full-bodied and beautifully concentrated, with building tannins and a round, opulent, sexy style, it doesn't quite have the precision of the 2018 yet certainly bring that magical mix of richness, concentration, and elegance, with no sensation of weight or heaviness, that's the hallmark of all great wines.
